How to use TimeIsMoney well

The idea is simple: your money is a clock. Cash divided by what each month costs is how long you can go on. Everything here helps you keep that clock honest and make it longer.

Set up in five minutes

  1. 1

    Say what you have

Enter the cash you can spend today. That is your starting point, and everything is measured from it.

  2. 2

    List what repeats

Add rent, bills and subscriptions under Costs. Together they are your burn: what the month costs just to stand still.

  3. 3

    Log a few moves

Tap + or − on Current Cash, or just say it. A few days of real moves makes the runway honest.

  4. 4

    Tell the advisor about you

A few sentences about how you earn and what worries you. Its answers then fit your life, not an average one.

  5. 5

    Set one goal

A target with a date, or a safety net of months of costs. Goals show what each month needs and what it means in days.

Talk to your money

Tap the microphone on Overview, or open Money Talks, and just say it. You can type instead. The advisor shows you what it understood, and nothing is saved until you press Confirm.

Log money

  • I spent 450 on groceries today
  • Got paid 3,000 from Northwind
  • Lunch was 12 yesterday

Catch up after a few days

  • My balance is 4,200 now
  • That 215 was groceries
  • Another 80 of it was a taxi

Savings

  • I have 50,000 saved in the bank as an emergency fund
  • I put 500 into my emergency fund from my salary
  • I paid for the laptop bag with my savings

Debts

  • I owe my brother 20,000
  • I took a car loan, 50,000 left, I pay 1,500 a month
  • I paid 2,000 toward my car loan

Talk for a long time

  • Hold the Talk button for a couple of seconds, then ramble: what you spent, what you pay each month, your cards, your debts. It sorts it for you to check and save.

Bills that repeat

  • My internet is 60 every month
  • Netflix is 16 a month

Money you expect

  • Lumen Labs will pay me 1,800 on the 28th
  • My retainer of 2,400 comes every month on the 5th

Credit cards

  • Add my Visa with a 3,000 limit
  • I bought a 600 lens on my Visa, six months EMI
  • I paid 200 to my Visa, it is already accounted for

Fixed deposits

  • Add a 5,000 fixed deposit at 5.5 percent maturing next March
  • A 2,000 deposit that is already counted in my balance

Money between people

  • Tariq owes me 120 for dinner
  • I owe Sara 85

Goals

  • Save 50,000 for a bike by March
  • I put 5,000 toward the bike

Medicines Pro

  • Add vitamin D for me, one tablet every morning on an empty stomach
  • My mother takes metformin morning and evening, 8 for a strip of 10
  • I took my vitamin D

Ask about your money

  • How long will my money last?
  • Can I afford a 2,400 laptop?
  • What can I do to save more?

You can also ask anything about your own money: what changed, what you can afford, what to do next. It reads your real figures and shows them in time.

What each page is for

Overview

Your runway as a countdown, and the one number that matters most: how long your cash lasts at your current spending.

  • Tap Update balance when you have spent without logging. The difference is kept as an unaccounted amount, so the runway is right today.
  • Use the microphone to talk to your money.
  • Gained and lost days show what this month did to your runway.

Current Cash

Every move that came in or went out.

  • Tap + for money in and − for money out. Add a category, a note, a place, or a foreign currency.
  • Paste a bank text or scan a receipt to fill the form for you; you check it before it saves.
  • Unaccounted amounts show highlighted. Open one to explain it in pieces, or count a later move toward it.
  • Backdate freely: past history is yours to enter.
Start free →

Costs

Bills that repeat, with the next date each is due.

  • Pay a bill from here and it logs the move and moves the date on.
  • If you already logged the payment, check it off instead so nothing counts twice.
  • Skip a bill you no longer have; it stops counting toward your burn.
Start free →

Expecting

Money promised but not yet received, once or on repeat.

  • It never counts in your headline runway until it lands, so a late client cannot flatter your clock.
  • When it arrives, confirm it and it becomes a real move. If only part arrived, record that part: it counts as cash now and the rest stays expected. If it does not come, mark it missed.
Start free →

Cards

Credit cards with their own limit, or secured by a fixed deposit, with charges, payments and EMI.

  • Add a card, then add its charges. Choose EMI to see every installment with its due date and interest.
  • Tick already accounted for when the money has already left your balance, so cash is not deducted twice.
  • Installments feed your monthly burn, so the runway sees them coming.
Start free →

Deposits

Money locked in a fixed deposit: yours, but not spendable until it matures.

  • Adding one moves its principal out of spendable cash. Tick already counted in my balance if it had already left.
  • Close and release it at maturity and the payout comes back as cash. You can edit or delete it any time.
Start free →

Savings

Money you set aside and mean to leave alone: an emergency fund, gold, cash in a tin, a fixed amount in the bank.

  • Say what each saving is for and where it is kept. Add to it or take from it, and choose whether the same amount moves in or out of your cash.
  • Savings never count in your live runway, which is about cash you can spend. In What-if you can pick one and see the runway if you dipped into it.
Start free →

Debts

What you owe: a loan, money borrowed from family, an unpaid bill.

  • What you still owe comes off your cash when your runway is worked out. If you owe more than you have, the clock rests at zero and money coming in pays the gap down first.
  • Pay it down, borrow more, add interest, and choose whether the same amount moves in or out of your cash. Tick “already in my monthly costs” for a debt you pay through a fixed cost or EMI, so it is not taken twice.
Start free →

Dues

Money one person owes another, outside your usual books.

  • Record what you owe or are owed, settle it when it is paid, and it posts the move for you.
Start free →

Goals

Something you are saving toward, or a safety net of months of costs.

  • Each goal shows the monthly amount it needs and what it equals in days of runway.
  • Add money toward it as you set it aside; that records progress without moving cash.
Start free →

What-if

Pro and above

Try a decision before you make it and see its effect on your runway.

  • Cut a cost, add a purchase, release a deposit, count expected income. Pin the ones you want to keep.
Start free →

Calendar

Bills, expected income, installments and public holidays by day.

  • Look ahead before a heavy week. Pay a due bill straight from here.
Start free →

Medicines

Pro and above

Medicines for you or someone you care for, with reminders, doses and cost.

  • Add a person, then their medicines: times of day, empty stomach, how often, and what a tablet or bottle costs.
  • Choose how long before each dose you want a reminder, in the app and by email.
  • See when a supply runs out, log refills, and see the monthly cost per person. This is a reminder and cost tool, not medical advice.
Start free →

Accounts, projects and invoices

Max

For teams and companies: separate books, project seats, invoices and statements.

  • Unpaid invoices become money you are owed and flow into your runway. Each project is its own book.

A rhythm that works

Every day, ten seconds

Log what you spent, or say it. Do not worry about being perfect; a rough record beats none.

Every week, two minutes

Open Costs for what is due, confirm money that landed, and clear any unaccounted amount in pieces.

Every month, ten minutes

Look at gained and lost days, adjust a goal, and try one What-if on a cost you could cut.

When you fell behind

Do not rebuild history. Type your real balance, then explain the gap whenever you like.

If you fell behind

  1. 1. On Overview, tap Update balance and type what you really have. Your runway is right straight away, and the difference is kept as an unaccounted amount.
  2. 2. Whenever you like, open it from Current Cash and say what it was: groceries, a bill, a gift. Add as many pieces as you remember, then save once.
  3. 3. Paid a bill after updating your balance, but before you logged it? Tell the app it was already in your balance, so it is not taken off twice.

Tips

Add it to your phone

Install the site to your home screen and it opens like an app, with voice and reminders.

Hide the numbers

The eye in the header blurs every amount for when someone is looking over your shoulder.

Your currency, your language

Switch currency or language from the header. Amounts convert at daily rates and your books stay in one.

Your data is yours

Export or delete everything from your profile, any time.
